Is film "Barfi" a Copycat ?

Barfi is an Anurag Basu film which has created a lot of Buzz among the audience & has been selected for the Oscars. But do we know the fact? It is mainly a copy of many Hollywood films most of which are classics.

Barfi is mainly a love story between two especial people & has been selected for the Oscars. Nevertheless we are very proud of that. But we cannot deny the fact that it has been copied from various Hollywood classic films. The director has admitted that it is inspired from Charlie Chaplin but he did not mention the other names. We will now show you the total picture of Barfi.

The base of this Bollywood film Barfi has a strong resemblance with the Hollywood film Benny & Joon released in the year 1993 & the Korean film Oasis released in 2002. And not only this, one of the composition of Pritam in this movie has been copied collectively from the tune of Yann Tiersen from the movie Amelie released in the year 2001.

The scene where Ranbir woke up under a covered statue has been copied from Charlie Chaplin's City of Light released in the year 1931. And the scene where Ranbir tries to get rid of a sticky paper while putting up posters in Kolkata has been copied from an episode of Mr Bean named Back to School.

The scene where Ranbir entertains Priyanka by sticking papers on eyelids & lips has been copied from Mr Bean's Holiday which released in the year 2007. The scene where Ranbir chased by cops rides a bicycle through narrow lanes has been copied from Jackie Chan's Project A released in the year 1983. And the ladder scene by Ranbir Kapoor has been copied from Buster Keaton's Cops released in the year 1922.

And this is not all, the scene where Rupa Ganguly introduces Ilieana D'cruz to her former boyfriend & the scene where Priyanka Chopra snuggle up Ranbir in the hospital bed have been inspired from the movie The Notebook which released in 2004.

The scene where two bikes rushed towards Priyanka as if two headlight are heading towards her has been copied from Mr Nobody released in 2009. The scene where Ranbir ogling the crotch of a sadhu has been copied from an advertisement of a Swedish newspaper.

The interrogation scene of Ranbir Kapoor where he says everything from his date of birth has been copied from The Groonies released in 1985. And the scene where Ranbir kapoor & Ileana D'cruz distribute food for the needy people in a good's train has been copied from the film Fried Green Tomatoes released in the year 1991.

The scene where Ranbir twists & turns his nose & plays & acts with a dummy to entertain Priyanka has been inspired from the movie The Rain released in 1952.

The scene where Ranbir plays cat & mouse with a police officer from another side of a sliding door has been copied from Charlie Chaplin's The Adventurer released in 1917.

And the scene where Ranbir keeps a nail on the road to stop a car has been inspired from the film Kikujiro released in 1999.

Though all these movies may only be an inspiration which has driven the director to make a film like Barfi, still a part of the media will not take this as lightly as this should be taken. But if we forget all these then Barfi is a very good movie & has been successful in making the cash registers ringing at the Box-office.
