Barfi's excellent first week collection & its entry into the Oscars

Barfi collected 57.50 Cr nett in its first week as per as early estimates which is just excellent. During the weekdays Barfi was very strong & collected approximately 23.50 Cr nett. Wednesday was a holiday & the movie benefited from it but Thursday was a bandh & the movie suffered for that.

Although there was Bandh on Thursday the major collectors of Barfi that is Delhi & Mumbai cities which remained mainly unaffected from the Bandh show good collections of Barfi. The collection of Barfi in these two major cities mainly remain unaffected due to Bandh.

The first week collection of Barfi is the highest collection ever for a movie of this genre as it is not a masala entertainer as the movie got universal appeal from all over India & has been liked by mass audience.

Now let us take a look at the daily collection of Barfi in Delhi/UP. The collections are rock steady.

Friday - 1.82 Cr

Saturday - 2.49 Cr

Sunday - 2.90 Cr

Monday - 1.51 Cr

Tuesday - 1.22 Cr

Wednesday - 1.15 Cr

Thursday - 1.00 Cr

Barfi showed good jump in collection on wednesday since wednesday was holiday in different parts of the country & Thursday was Bandh all over India. Mainly Maharashtra & Karnataka were holiday on wednesday. The collection on Wednesday was approximately 7 Cr which is excellent. In Mysore the collection on wednesday were nearly twice the collection on Tuesday.
