The censor board gives U certificate to Barfi. Anurag Basu is very excited about it. His previous movies Murder, Gangster, Life in a metro all got A certificate & Kites got U/A certificate. The story of Barfi revolves around a deaf mute boy played by Ranbir Kapoor. The film also marks the debut of telegu actress Ileana D'Cruz in bollywood.

The movie was previously titled as Khamoshi but then the title was changed to Barfi. The starcast of the film consists of Ranbir Kapoor as Murphy Johnson also known as Ranbir Pratap Singh, Priyanka Chopra as Jhilmil Chatterjee, Ileana D Cruz as Shruti Ghosh/Sengupta, Rahul Garg, Saurabh Shukla, Sumona Charavarty, Bhola Raja Sapkota & Jishu Sengupta. The music has been composed by Pritam. The film is expected to take a Bumper opening at the Multiplexes of the Metros.
Barfi collected huge in its first weekend. According to early estimates it has collected approximately 34 Cr nett in its first weekend. The film opened excellent in Metro Multiplexes on Friday but & the the multiplexes at other places which were lower on Friday picked up hugely on Saturday & Sunday.
By Sunday the film perfomed exceptionally well all over apart from few single screens accross the country.
The film was released in 700 theatres & nearly 1300 screens all over India & this type of collection with this type of release size is very good. The occupancy in the multiplexes were nearly 100% all over the country. Generally big openers have huge releases which vary from 2500 screens to 3500 screens, but releasing only on 1300 screens & collecting such huge is a great achievement.
If we go by the trending of the movie then the movie is sure to hold up well on weekdays as the mutiplexes will witness a very strong collection. This is the highest collection in the weekend for a Ranbir Kapoor starrer the last one was multistarrer Rajneeti which collected 33 Cr nett in its first weekend.
The collection of Barfi on Monday is excellent & the drop is just 25% compared to Friday. Barfi collected approximately 6.5 Cr on Monday as per early estimates. It is the 5th highest monday collections in 2012 after Ek Tha Tiger, Rowdy Rathode, Agneepath & Housefull 2.
Some centres collected better on Monday than on Friday. The centre which did not opened well on Friday were strong on Monday than Friday. The ticket rates came down 20-25% on Monday at multiplexes & the collections were also down by 20-25% which clearly shows that the footfalls were similar on manday with that of Friday.
The total collection of Barfi in the 5 days is 40 Cr nett & the week is heading for a 55 Cr nett. Since it is holiday on wednesday in some parts of the country the film will witness good collection on wednesday.
